Back to the Future opened on this date in 1985. The time traveling adventure was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.


Marty McFly’s best friend, the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, has invented a time machine. Marty accidently travels 30 years to the past and gets stuck in 1955. He must now find a way to return to 1985 without inadvertently destroying his future.


  • Back to the Future features one of the greatest scripts ever written. The story is filled with inventiveness and every plot point pays off flawlessly. Back to the Future is the greatest time travel story ever told and the script is a big reason why.


  • The cast from top to bottom is brilliant. Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F. Wilson all shine.


  • There are so many memorable pieces of iconography and moments in Back to the Future. The top of the list is of course the DeLorean Time Machine. The Time Machine is one of the most iconic movie cars and props in the history of film.


  • The time traveling storyline allows Back to the Future to remain timeless. 33 years after its release, it is still fresh and relevant.

 Back to the Future is one of the greatest films of all time. The script, cast and visuals work so brilliantly together that it feels like magic. Back to the Future is one of the few films in history with no flaws and it will entertain moviegoers for generations to come.
